Guest upload link from Iphone

I am new to this forum and fairly new to Smugmug. I recently went on a vacation with my family and would like to collect the pictures my kids took with their IPhones. I know how to generate a link and can email it to them but when testing it I noticed that the date/time taken is being stripped off of the picture when it arrives in Smugmug. This is a big problem when you are trying to put together a chronological set of pictures. Is this a "feature" in Smugmug or am I doing something wrong. When I upload from a computer or from the app on my IPhone it doesn't do this. Only the IPhones via an email link.

Hi there! Are they using Safari with the guest upload link? We have a known issue where Safari is stripping out metadata when using that browser on mobile upload. Could they try using the guest upload link in Chrome instead? This should solve the trouble while we have this bug.
Checking further into the issue report, this appears to only happen if photos are taken in HEIC/HEIF format. For that format iOS handles the conversion to JPG as needed and it looks like in this conversion the metadata gets removed. This actually might not be something we can address on our end, as it might be something in the way Apple handles that conversion.
Due to the way browsers on iOS work, using a different browser might not make any difference. So the only real workaround available for guests right now would be to have their camera app set to save photos in JPG format instead of the HEIC/HEIF format. Of course, this would only apply to new photos taken since the change and might result in larger photo sizes.
The setting can be changed in the iOS Settings app > camera > formats by setting it to "Most Compatible".
