Here's a few of my favorite bird and wildlife photos. Generally, I prefer portrait style captures with an emphasis on utilizing side-lighting. I hope you'll enjoy these photos.

Double-crested Cormorant

California Sea Lions

Snowy Egret

wonderful captures, Tony. I can't decide which is my favorite - the seals or that beautiful Egret and it's reflection. Outstanding.

Super nice. How do you do the lighting on these? They look like studio shots!

Thanks for looking and commenting. The lighting I prefer to use in my photography is often referred to as "side light" outdoors, and "Rembrandt" lighting, indoors. The majority of my photos are taken shortly after sunrise and then during the late afternoon to maximize the desired effect.

Red reflections on water are always interesting. I find them near old red covered wooden bridges, sometimes.

Beautiful!! I am heading to Florida again this Winter out of the rain. My project is capturing a snowy egret, and others as well but the snowy is so special. Thanks for sharing. The light is lovely.

Thank you very much! Hoping you'll post some photos from Florida. Seems like a great location for bird photography. Snowy Egrets remain my favorite birds to photograph!

Lovely Tony, what shutter speed did you use to catch them?? I'm practicing with Raw Burst mode but not getting much, what you've done is what I'm aiming for. Very beautiful!

    Hi lynnma,
The shutter speeds I use for small birds varies from 1/3200 sec to 1/6400/ sec.
