Mini-Challenge 381 - So long, farewell?

sapphire73sapphire73 Registered Users, Super Moderators Posts: 2,011 moderator

The challenge here is to figure out how we want to wrap up our participation in the Dgrin Challenges forum! Please feel free to share some final thoughts, favorite memories, and perhaps a photo (or two or three). I like to think of this as until we meet again. Not sure how the Dgrin group on Flickr will evolve but it does give us the potential for staying in touch and sharing some of our photos with each other!

I will write something more in a separate post but wanted to get this thread started.

When I think about Dgrin and the people in this community, I feel great appreciation for the way people here have encouraged each other to grow as photographers. I may have picked up my first camera when I was nine years old but I had a lot to learn when I took a deeper dive into photography. I have learned so much from participating in various challenges over the years and being inspired by the work of others! I have also enjoyed my brief stint as moderator of the Dgrin Challenges. Thank you for your support!

Looking back over my years on Dgrin, I remember when Sherstone (Sean) was managing the challenges and then JAG (Joyce Marie Martin) became the moderator. There were challenges, mini-challenges and OOYCZ (Out of Your Comfort Zone) challenges. In 2005, Andy Williams initiated the Photo Association (The Dgrin Game). Joyce Martin started The Never Ending Alphabet Game in 2013 and added the Perpetual Shapes, Color, Texture & Patterns Game in 2015. We sure had a lot of opportunities to share our love of photography and learn from each other!

I may come back and share some photos or a few more thoughts but this is a start.
    Wishing you all the best,
    Gretchen

I have been a member of this forum for over 18years. Wow, is that a hoot!!!
I will surely miss this group, and many others. Looks like we need to organize a challenge category for Flickr.
I did miss out on the "Winter Wonderland" Challenge, so I thought to post a few on here.

I have really enjoyed the Dgrin challenges. It took me a while to join in, and I occasionally took breaks, but I always enjoyed myself when I took part. Thank you Gretchen @sapphire73 for running things the last few years, and thanks to all the regulars. I think that participating gave me a little more confidence in my (strictly hobby!) photography. And of course I always enjoyed seeing everyone else's great pictures. Hopefully as the dust settles there will be similar challenges elsewhere in the future. To everyone here, thanks for making photography just a little bit more fun.

You are most welcome. I hope we can all stay in touch on https://focus-on-photography-forum.net/ and/or the Dgrin Flickr group.

Well Dang! I have not been participating in the challenges for quite a while, for various reasons, but have checked in from time to time when I need a dose of inspiration. I will be looking up the Dgrin forum on Flickr (where I am more active), and will look forward to seeing you all there.

@DavidRGillespie - A lot of us have joined (or were already participating on) the Focus on Photography Forum as well. Feel free to check it out! And it is good to know that you are already on Flickr!
