Help with D70 Memory Card

I just had some problems with my memory card. After riding my bike to the top of the bridge in cold damp windy weather to get a shot, I had problems with my card.
The camera says "File does not contain image data". This happened after I had taken about 20 shots and was on my last 2 or 3 shots.
I got home and tried to retrieve the pictures on my computer but all the files are gone. My manual says to reformat, but if I do this will everything be lost for good?
There are some weird files on the card that I can't open.
Any suggestions or am I SOL?:dunno

it may be that weather had a play in it and that not all data was put on the card .Did you use the card recovery programs

if they do not work you really do need to reformat and try again . Did you have the camera covered ??

Camera was covered. It wasn't raining, just damp air.
How do I use the card recovery program?
Not sure how to do that.

They are usually pretty simple to use.....Normally you need an external card reader.... after installing the software....and opening it (the software)...insert card into reader and there should just be a button named "RECOVER"....THAT is pretty much how my lexar software works and it says unrecoverable or no data found....then you'll have to reformat and try again....should it happen a 2nd time...contact manufacturer and get it replaced as defective.

Happy to say that I was able to recover almost all the pictures I took.
Hopefully I will have another chance to get out there and get more before
they blow up the rest.
