It was in daylight, and this is a bush so lots of background distraction. I wanted enough DOF to show the relationship between the two dominant branches, but I needed to limit the light to the diffused flash source.
This digicam is so great at syncing flash at high shutter speeds.
Your lovely green buds look like a string of Christmas Lights.

I did think it was a nice contrast of the green buds against the brown twigs. These things are so tiny now that I had to use a genuine 1:1 macro to get any size in the image at all.
