An Osprey in NY???

Not much of a picture, but notable, at least for me anyway.
Haven't seen one of these before out this way.

100% crop -- he was a long way off. (Time for a 600mm and a divorce).

    Man, I've found that shooting any BIF is quite difficult. At least for me. Once a year I try my hand at wildlife, and I always walk away a humble person, with tons of respect for the great shots I see in this forum. Can't help you with the ID or any tips, other than share that I can relate to the excitement that you got it in your shot.

    Thanks, Marlof. I shoot BIF's almost every day, so it's pretty much second nature now. That particular shot was a cinch. He was soaring in a big high circle far away. I just fired off a few shots every time he circled into view. It was only interesting because it's a fairly rare bird around here, I think.

    The challenging ones are when they suddenly appear, flying low out of the woods. That's when it gets really exciting. Like this one from a few months ago.
