This is a very rare bird for these parts, must be migrating with
the Indigos. It was spotted last year and the same one is
back. He's missing a back claw on his right foot. Birders are
coming from all over to catch a glimpse. I got lucky.

    Is surreal the right word?

Colors of a parrot on a finch.

    The "Island of Dr. Moreau".

    Okay...I'll quit!!!

    Wonderful catch, Allen.nod.gif

His coloring is gorgeous! He looks mighty proud in the first picture. The orange breast reminds me of a robin, but this fella is much nicer looking than a robin. I've never seen this bird before. Thanks for sharing!

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

I've never seen one either, rare for this area and a special find. I
still can't believe all the colors.
    Thanks,

Quote from Audubon site "Painted Bunting has two distinct breeding
populations: one found along the Atlantic Coast from North Carolina
south to central Florida; and another that stretches across much
of Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, southward into northern
    Mexico."

Maybe they don't like marshes or you're just south of that line. Maybe Ginger can find one.:D
    Thanks Harry,
