    This was about 9:30 AM. Since this is a river banked by a forest you can get some nice filtered light as a substitute for early light. To me that is the most important aspect of photography.....looking for or providing good light.

    they do it on land, too. i have a dozen geese and it's really amusing to look out and see at least half of them sleeping, head tucked under the wing, one leg tucked up underneath.
