I tried, I spent a very long time looking through search returns.

Two words need,

For the web, color setting is ________

For print, the color setting is ________

ginger

(someone else might like to see it so simply put, too.)
After all is said and done, it is the sweet tea.

    good luck :D
Shouldn't that be use the same color profile your lab uses ? To my knowledge, most labs offer their customized profiles or also accept sRGB as one of the standards.

Thanks for your input Andy. When we get Baldy, I could use the info like this

Color setting for smugmug lab is _____________

    ginger

I appreciate the time, I think it is complicated. I have read threads on it, just can't find them now. And I just want a simple answer, I don't care why things are that way, just how to do them, smile.

It really depends on how particular your needs are.
    Directly from ezprints:

    http://ezprints.com/help/IccProfileHelp.asp

If you want to match closest, use their Icc profile (photoshop has an option for a soft-proof - so that you get to see what their printer would most likely print- remember its a close estimate, not an exact match)

remember to calibrate your monitor as well.

All the details are provided in that page I pointed you to.

Andy is most probably speaking out of experience with the adobe format producing good results - I would not ignore that advice, ifyou want an easy to use answer to get good prints.

Andy, FYI any JPEG sent to EZprints is assumed to be sRGB. BAldy says that they actually don't even look at the profile. This info is on the ezprint site as linked in the other post.

    Sorry I jumped in late!

Every Windows browser — like IE, Firefox, Mozilla, and Netscape — can only support sRGB. Since they all ignore your profile and assume you're trying to display an sRGB file no matter what you upload, Adobe 98 files will look washed out on the web.

Because that's true, every Internet-based printer like EZ Prints, Shutterfly, Ofoto, etc. — and even in-store printers like Costco, Wolfe's, etc. — also assume your file is sRGB. If you give them an Adobe 98 file they won't know it is one and your prints will look washed out.

So who does use Adobe 98? Magazines and print shops that do annual reports, etc. The next time you shoot the cover of Vogue, make sure you submit an Adobe 98 file.

    Thanks,
    Baldy

    Laughing.gif, Thanks, Baldy!

I know Kelby says to use nothing but 98, and I will too, soon as I get that cover assignment.

Meanwhile, saved a lot of work..................and grief.
