I'm sorry guys. I thought it was just because I was fixing the post. I put these in a new gallery on smugmug and the link was not active. So sorry. It's fixed now, I think.

I can see'em now, Snapple. - Thanks for the head's up. I like your borders.

The first is one of those shots that look lovely, but are really hard for me to emulate.

I think the second needs some more color saturation - it seems kind of flat on my monitor....

I'll try a little more color, but it really looked more like this, I think. I clicked "auto levels" and it made it real green. The desert is not that green:) So I did the levels manually. I'll try a little more saturation to see if it gives it more oomph. Appreciate the feedback.

Pathfinder, I increased the saturation on this one a bit. Let me know if it looks better or worse or what. It's funny, when I pulled up my file, it looked more saturated than the one here. When I tried curving it a bit, it looked too fake. I'm wondering if they look more saturated in photoshop than the file coming from Smugmug. I thought you guys were saying just the opposite on another thread. I'm afraid to get it oversaturated, so I only increased it a little.

Thanks, I'll take that as a compliment. That's what photography is, isn't it? There are opportunities for good shots all around us. We just need to see them and position ourselves in such a way as to capture them in a pleasing composition. When I'm walking in the early morning is when I see the good light, so then I have to look for a good subject. The place where I walk is nothing but brush and dirt trails. It makes it a little harder to find beauty, but it's there.

I am viewing your images on an Apple 23 inch cinema display that I have calibrated with the Apple software and I get very good corespondence between my monitor and my printer, or images I have edited on my Windows machine so I think my monitor is fairly accurate. I prefer the second image - the first still is just a tad flat and I prefer the snap of the second image.

I don't know if you saw the discussion that Lynn and I have had over how the images are handled by smugmug. My working space in Photoshop is Adobe RGB, but for images that I KNOW I plan to upload to Smugmug, I click Image > Mode > Convert to Profile > sRGB. This has helped me keep my images on the web looking like I see them when I open them in Photoshop. Seems to work for me.
