For (travel) stories: Try 'Tabblo'

The site http://www.tabblo.com seems to be very suited to put your pics up for story telling.

Travel stories may be perfect to show on this site. If they'd just implemented a smugmug-integrator (like they do with Flickr, for example).

But as a "designer chick" I find a lot of the choices and templates limited.

But that's only because I am a designer chick!

I'm sure the site will be very popular with a lot of people.

I was expecting more templates... and more color choices.

It is pretty easy to use, and with more use I'm sure I'd find more options to try.

I do like how when I chose 4 sample photos, and the "layouts" were for 4 photos.

So Dee when we started Tabblo, we had a limitted set of options as you write above, because we wanted to provide a lot of art direction for users who don't feel capable of it, or don't want to bother. However enough "designer chicks" complained and set us straight, and so now you can not only customize the layout to your heart's content (look here for an example) but also style (look here for an example of that). The hope is to do the best of both worlds and provide great looking stuff out of the gate that you can then customize right down to the metal if you want.

As far as the SmugMug integration goes, can you say more about that? I believe SmugMug is a good Web 2.0 citizen which means that unlike a lot of other gen-1 photo sites, the do not lock your photos in.

I heard from your company/site through Boston Search Group. A good friend of mine is working for them and pointed me to your site. I found it very interesting.

Tabblo is not and does not want to be another Smugmug/PBase/etc., but to me it seems to aim at a different way of photoblogging. Various and better layouts and cooperation (circles) are your main selling points. Am i correct?

Then i read Tabblo integrates with, for example, Flickr. I don't know how that works and i would not know if there is an easy way to integrate with Smugmug.

Every pictures from Smugmug is accessible through this URL:

http://www.smugmug.com/photos/<id>-<size>.<ext>
where <id> is a string of digits, your photo-id
where <size> is Th, Ti, S, M, L, O or a size-indication such as 600x800.
where .<ext> is optional, but usually .jpg, .tiff or .gif and such.

Smugmug also supports ATOM and RSS feeds.

You could ask the smugmug-owners/engineers what the best way is to integrate with Smugmug....
