The yellow leaf is your primary subject and as such, should receive the steepest curve part to achieve the maximum contrast.
    MHO, YMMV, etc.

Steepening in CMYK on a channel-by-channel basis, sharpening in L (LAB), then blending with your original image.. I know, it's way beyond "moderate PS" requirement, but I only wanted to express my idea...ne_nau.gif

    Antonio,
    Nikolai.
You are the teacher. You have assumed such a position and I accept that.
But let me tell you something:
The concept of ONE like any other is subjected to criterias.
    The criterias must have latitudes.
Have to be limited from one side and from the other.
Like for example communism and fascism: 2 extremes.
The middle: democracy in its multiple variations, some to the right, some to the left.

This sentences have something to do with the posts of the other day and your comment of course ...

Well.... Have a nice week end.

And ... as usual: what ? what ?...
    Guess...
    Yes !!

    Saúde.
    :):thumb.gif

    Technically, it's one door.
But does it cry "one" like JJ's "one leaf" or Doug's "one boat" do? To me - no, at least not to that extent.
No worry, the main goal is to go out and shoot, hopefully while having the assignment in mind. So you did:) The rest is futile and unimportant:-)

And don't let me start on communism, 'cause, unlike most of dgrinners, I have some first-hand experience:-) rolleyes1.gif

    Saude!

    Saude!

Of course - and you know it by now because we have talked a little - I meant no offense or provocation.
I thought you shoud have some experience about that.
I was just expressing how I felt about the so called "good sense"... :):

Don't get too soft about what we are supposed to shoot.
The intension maters but the goal must be obtained.

When I shot I did not have the ONE in mind.
My wife suggested as ONE when she saw the picture.
Then I thought: why not, it's an entrace of the city etc etc....

I hope to have another one ONE until the end. (It's on sunday, is it not ?)

    Another one
I know, I know - it's old and as such not eligible :-), but since we have a discussion of what one is, I think this one kinda reflect my idea of oneness:

    Some "ones"
Well, I was at Sea World the other day and had a fun time thinking of "one" as I was shooting some things... Here are three that stick with me...

Here's one upside down dolphin, photographed through the acrylic...
    89039792-M.jpg

Here's one cow with sunglasses... I love cows, so I couldn't resist taking this shot...
    89034100-M.jpg

Here is one whale showing herself off for us...
    89041771-M.jpg

These may have been cropped but they haven't been adjusted at all in post as far as exposure or color. Taken with my new "small" point and shoot, Cannon Powershot S21S...

    Cheers!!

I like what you did. :): I am at the moderate level, but I want to learn more. I am not afraid of post, just inexperienced. So you selected the leaf separately, then did the CMYK curves channel by channel? ne_nau.gif It's probably a lot to ask to tell me in more detail what you did. After all, this is a class in taking the shot in the first place, right? Not necessarily the whole post processing thing. I'm a software engineer by profession, not in the image processing domain, but I learn fast. mwink.gif

    About that :-) thumb.gif
In fact I did the whole layer and then masked out the rest with a large soft brush

Yes, at this point we're not concentrating on a post. We will at some point. But - nice piece of pop rarely hurts :-) mwink.gif

There is no such thing as "too late" for the true art :):

I'm glad you thought of it. Essentially, all those assigments are the ABCs, the basics which we need constantly "play" in the back of our minds when we walking around. Like, look, there is a good trio. Or, hey, this is a pentagon intersected with a triangle.. Things like that, you know...
