Well I am trying Smugmug and was all set to sigh up but my uploads are really slow. The first pics I uploaded were quick but my latest files are at a snails pace and coming from a free hosting service that was quick this is not good. Any suggestions would be appreciated as I would like to join.
(the latest uploads were sized for web so they are not large)

Dan

Hi Dan, I'd like to help. Can you give me some particulars:

I see you are using Firefox 1.5 on Window. Which uploader are you using please?

Can you run a speedtest to us? http://speedtest.smugmug.net and share the results here.

Can you run a traceroute to www.smugmug.com and share the results here?

Let's start with those and go from there.

    Thanks for the help Andy

I am at work right now so I am nt sure my wife would be willing to run the tests for me. rolleyes1.gif
I used "Universal drag and drop" then switched to "Old faithful"
I finnish up my shift a 05:30 EST and when I come home will run the test and post results. Not sure if this has any bearing on it as I originally tried
"Pro" account then tried the "Proffesional" account and last night when I tried to upload the problem started.

    ANdy:

Yesterday I uploaded two files that where less than 25k, one took 2773 seconds (42 mins), the second took 3078 seconds (51.3 minutes) to PROCESS.Both files where the same jpg - the second upload was due to me thinking there was a problem and the first one didn't upload.

Tonight, I'm trying to upload 5 files (total size 1.7 mb).

I just don't have time to wait 40+ minutes...something is wrong. I too use FF 1.5 and windoz, using the drag n drop java file uploader.

This is rediculas! 51 minutes to process a file less than 25k!

Download Speed: 1262 kbps (157.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 389 kbps (48.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

It's not upload speeds, its the time smugmug takes to process the files. At least for me.

What did Cinderella say when she left the photo shop? "One day my prints will come."

    Hi mrclark,

That's quite fast - and good. Can you do a traceroute from you to www.smugmug.com? If you need assistance, just holler.

Also, are you running any firewall, ad-blocker, accelerator software?
