Assignment #9: Reflections

Our attempts to speed things up didn't bring us a lot of material.
So may be it's a sigh that we need to slow down, relax and reflect on things.
Which brings our next topic: Reflections.

The goal is to shoot things reflected.

A pond, a pool, a puddle, a shiny car, a chrome casserole, or, kh-m, a mirror or store window - all those will do.

A polarizer definitely can be a great helper here.

For the rest of the basic rules and index please check out this sticky.

Let's get reflected! :D

    Few old ineligibles
    Just to start things up.

NOTE: they are touched, but not cheated:-). I mean, no compositing....

The rest are some attempts at the challenge as well.

Reflected neon or lit by neon

The last assignment, I really ment to do and I had ideas..... but one, there were no fountains around....and trying to capture the trees blowing was getting frusterating. ESP douring the BRIGHT mid day..... and saying this week FLEW by, would be an understatment.

I'll head out tonite and find some stuff!:D

I'll jump in on this one with 2 shots/ One from a week ago, one from yesterday.

The Ralph Lauren store window had a $88,000 benz reflected into it. (how fitting is that) And yes, the sticker was still on the car.

I only wish reflection was a bit more obvious.
CP is the definitely "the" tool for this class..

I'm glad you did find some time for reflecting...iloveyou.gif

They are all fine, but you've set your own bar so high before, that I cannot help but looking for improvements ne_nau.gif
    So, if I may - some C&C...mwink.gif
    • Wheel - could use some be cropping and curves/levels
    • Flag - rather nice as it is :-)
    • Window - well, it's a reflection alright:-)rolleyes1.gif
    • Mirror - I think some "extreme cropping" would defeinitely help here....

    Aaron,
    Another great set of entries!

And another set of C&C, hope you don't mind:-)
    • Spectacles - nice!
Maybe desaturate the rest except the reflection? Just an idea...
    • Street wall lantern - awesome.
      Crop, maybe?
    • Patio furniture - another good one.
      Maybe also some crop?
    • "No soliciting" - great capture!
Straightening and cropping would help greatly, IMHO.
      B/W possibly?
    • Rowers - good catch!
      "Crop, baby, crop"
    • Broken reflection - almost perfect!
Just a small trim from the right, maybe some curves - and it there wiil be no "almost"
All in all, you've being very "reflective" today:-) clap.gif
Thank you very much for the great entries! thumb.gif

    Thanks NIkolai.

Wheel- It was rather dark in the parking garage and I left my tripod in the truck a few blocks away. OOPS!! No PS so it is what it is- there is always opprotunities for these.

Mirror- yeah I know. Once I posted it I was like "ahh damn" never touched it.

Windows- so does that mean they're good- okay- or ho hum?

    Welcome to the class! clap.gif

It's never late to submit a good fresh picture! deal.gif

However, I should say that I don't see a lot of reflection in this one.
I mean - there are catchlights, and it's glassy, but the whole image does not "cry" "reflection" as it's primary subject. ne_nau.gif
Wanna give it another try? We have the whole week, and then some mwink.gif

    Thank you for submitting!

As you know, PP is never required, but always appreciated:-)

Windows - with all honesty, it's probably the weakest submission from the whole set of yours today. Yes, it fits the assignment, so I have no right to say anything negative about it.
But, unlike your other shots, both from today and from before, it only fits the assignment.ne_nau.gif
I wouldn't give it another look should I see under different circumstances, you know what I mean?
That broken reflection with the balconies - some more PP, and it's a challenge material... Windows... nah, I don't think so...

I wouldn't say this at all if I haven't seen your other work, both in this class and outside it. I hope you understand... iloveyou.gif

I just took these. I've got soem other somewhat recent, VERY good shots, If I get permission too throw them in, I will.

otherwise... here goes. I've gotten the reflection shots down. I learned to focus on the reflected immage itself, turn untill the reflection is crystal clear. I knwo thay aren't the greatest overall pics, but... It hasn't rained much in a while here...

I was out looking for other kewl shots, when I stumbled upon this!.... If you can tell me how this picture was taken... I'd be suprised.... (actually judging by the caliber of photog's we have here, I wouldn't be THAT supprised)

    Specs are as follows...

NO tripod... f 4.0 2.5 iso 200 (could have been lower, too noisy).. Auto focus

NO tripod... f4.0 4.0 iso 80 auto focus.

Looks like a reflection off your windshield judging by the distortion and what looks like a windshield wiper. Images are pretty underexposed so it's difficult to make out, including the reflected image. Nice perspective though!
