Minotaur rocket launches from Virginia

A small 69 foot Minotaur rocket places two satellites into orbit at sunrise Dec. 16, from Wallops Island, Virginia. It is the first successful mission from a pad there since 1985.

    69 feet just doesn't sound small to me :D anything larger than a fire cracker is big in my book nod.gif

    Thanks. For the guys at Wallops this was "huge" but for us who know the space business and are used to Cape Canaveral or Vandenberg, this was tiny by comparison :-) A bottle rocket maybe!

    Do you think you'll ever make it out to Baikanor to see one of the Russian
    Proton rocket launches? That must be something spectacular to see.

    I would very much love to go see a manned Soyuz launch (and hope to eventually), and an unmanned Proton as well. But neither can compare to the shuttle in shear power.

    The one thing about watching in Russia is you can get closer (dangerously close some might say).

    Very nice. I can see why the Wallops folks were excited. I had no idea anything was launched in VA.
