On page 15 of the January Digital Camera World, published in the UK,
Smugmug gets a plug. A screen shot and several paragraphs invite the
reader to visit the site. Included is a quote from Don "This is a personal
endeavour that grew out of our frustration with trying to get established
photo sites to conform with our vision of an ideal photo sharing service".

I found the magazine in a Barnes & Noble.

Way to go!

Hey, very cool! :D Who woulda thought? In November of 2002, our first month, we got just 5 paying customers.... Now almost 40 people sign up per day.

Google's staff photographer signed up and seems to be telling everyone. I can't believe how many referrals he generates.

Truthfully, it's the best dough I've spent on sharing. I try and convince
anyone that has a digital photo habit that they need to sign up. It's
especially handy for those ride reports...

I hear Google moved recently. Into a building I used to work in some time
back. Poochy-roo looks like he is sitting in what used to be the Bocci Ball
    court.

I tell a lot of folks about smugmug, but I run in the wrong crowd. They nod and their eyes glaze over. They don't seem to understand the wonder of sharing photos over the internet. Shame.
    Sid.
