I've finally gotten a chance to get out and get some pictures around town. Johnstown was once a thriving steel mill town. I'd say a good third of the town was comprised of the steel mills. Now that the area has been stripped of it's resources, there are literally hundreds of acres of abandon steel mills. Excellent for photography though :wink

If you're interested...some history of the town.

Any feedback or comments you guys have I would greatly appreciate. Still got lots and lots to learn.

I believe this building is from around the 1880s.

After some further reflection, I've thought how I could have framed this shot a little better. But one of my favorites.

An abandoned loading bay. My grandfather use to work in this mill.

I was very happy with the result of this picture!

Ok, but not as good as some of your other shots. The composition doesn't really grab me, and image is a bit flat for my taste.

I really like the compositions in these last two. Nice use of selective focus, especially in the shot of the stack. Other than maybe bumping up the contrast a bit I wouldn't change a thing!

I agree with you on the first picture. Kinda bland. Was hoping the geometry would set off the picture. Heh heh..that kinda failed

Cletus: ...Interested to see your alternate framing

If I get back to there, I'd like to put the text in the very lower right-hand corner and fill the rest of the frame with the garage door.

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I like the composition, but feel the background is too soft. I also think I like the B&W more than the color one

I believe this building is from around the 1880s.

I like the abandoned dock shot. The fence sums up a little of
the US Steel history in that it portrays the mill as inaccessible
to a ready work force.
