Loose Screws

Is anyone having problem with lens screws at the outer ring coming loose more than once? It's happening in my 2.8/300VR & 2.8/80/200 VR. Any fix? :scratch

Just ask SWMBO, I have plenty of loose screws.

But, none on my camera equipment. But, then again, I shoot Canon gear

(is that just more evidence of my other loose screws?).

If you're talking about on the hood of the lens. Yes. I've had it happen.
A jeweler's screwdriver is usually all that's required to fix.

Yeah there's plenty of those kinds of loose screws around here! Guilty as charged. :ivar

The time tested cure, if dealing with metal parts, is to use clear nail polish to seal the screws in place. If plastic parts, use something in a latex paint.

For a more commercial solution, purchase some Loctite ThreadLocker 222, low strength. (You can get this at many automotive specialty stores and "speed" shops.)

Either way, use very sparingly, and you may want to test on a pair of eyeglasses first, so you get used to the properties.

This would be the blue loctite. Not the red. I repeat, not the red...and by
sparingly, I would think using the end of a toothpick to put just the slightest
dab on the screw would be more than enough.
