This is the older non-USM version of this lens. I've taken many really great shots with it.

Condition is excellent, but perhaps not mint. Optics are perfect. I have the cloth bag, lens shade, and cap. No box.

I'm considering upgrading to Mark II if I can find a buyer for this lens.

Best offer over $1k.
If not now, when?

This is f/1.2. Is that what you have? Not to be confused with the f/1.8.

Yes L. The Mark II lists about $2k and B&H has for $1.8k.

I had the 1.8 (from here mind you) and it is not what I wanted, so I got the 1.2L version.

    They are all USM.

As will be all too clear I'm better at portraits and ballet photography than at product photography. Still, I've been asked for some shots of this lens and so I took them.

Also, this lens is marked "Ultrasonic", so it is a USM motor. A little research turned up some facts. The new lens has a faster microprocessor and is supposed to focus faster. It's a fact that this lens (mark I) doesn't focus very fast. I don't know what it is that makes autofocus for this particular focal length / aperture relatively slow/hard.

It is slow focusing because of the sheer distance that the focusing ring has to travel to move the glass just a little bit. I love mine actually and one of these selling for under $1400 is a fantastic deal and someone should snag this lens while you can. This is the lens that put me back in love with primes again.
