I'm putting together a website for a local High School baseball team. I'll be hosting the photo's on my SM website but will need a separate frontend to host a few photo's w/ roster and calendar, schedules, stats ........
I've been looking at eteamz.com for a hosting site. They list this example site http://eteamz.active.com/sheldonsoftball/ . My question is how hard is it to create a site like this on a standard hosting site like GoDaddy? Since I'm somewhat website developer challenged should I just bite the bullet and pay 3 times as much and join eteamz or does other hosting sites offers plug-and-play options such as calendars, schedules ...........?

Imho, it's always better to pay for a hosted site as opposed to using something like eteamz, yahoo, etc etc...Having your own space give's you much more freedom and creativity options and you don't have to have the sponsorship advertisements.
Everything you're wanting is basic html, pretty easy..u can do a search on templates (free ones) and probably find a free html editor that is drag and drop and will convert automatically to html for you (so you don't really ahve to know html)...the only thing is the stats...you will have to have a program or have a spreadsheet with the formulas to avoid entering every field manually...with a formula, you can enter just a couple of fields and it re-calculates batting averages, etc etc..

What about using MS Word to create web pages?

MS word will work for the most part...I've never used it, used to use fronpage and didn't like it, and it's to proprietary (server needs to have frontpage extensions for frontpage sites to work properly.) I don't know if Word would need to the same thing or if it's straight html.
I've heard good things about coffee cup..it's drag/drop and has a built-in ftp
