After a honeymoon that had turned out not-quite-like-we'd-planned Daphne and I decided to take a cruise. We thought we'd wait until this summer, but the right cruise at the right price came along, and since we have no kids or pets and flexible jobs we were able to get the tickets and said two weeks later.

I had been on several cruises as a kid but never to these ports of call. Daphne had never been on a cruise. We are both highly prone to motion sickness but I remembered (correctly) from my childhood that cruises usually are smooth enough for even folks like us.

We sailed aboard the NCL Majesty, one of the smaller ships that makes these types of trips.

We had a great time on the ship - seeing shows and listening to music. It was also nice just to have time to sit in the sun to rest and read.

Ice carving, casinos....

...but really, as Andy often reminds us, it's all about the food.

I started each day with an omelet

The first port of call was supposed to be Grand Cayman but because of circumstances beyond anyone's control, we had to skip it and head straight for Cozumel. Cozumel was the highlight of our trip. Snorkling, Mayan Ruins (though small), beautiful seas and fun shopping were all highlights of an excellent two days in Cozumel.

And the wildlife!

Cozumel was my favorite place to take pictures - but rather than post them all here I'll just offer you the gallery: http://paulsclicks.smugmug.com/gallery/2428596/

One thing to complain about: the snorkeling was amazing. The colors, the creatures, the water - everything was awesome. I had purchcased one of those one-time-use underwater Kodak cameras that I was excited about using. Indeed it was fun to use, but the results sucked. I2E at least made the images usable, but I'm very disappointed that I don't have better pictures to remember that fantastic trip by.

The second (and final) port of call was Key West. I wasn't excited about this stop before we left but boy was I wrong! Key West was a great place to visit. Lots of excitment, beautiful buildings, and a fantastic sunset celebration.

Overall, a great trip!

And here are a few more pictures I'd like to share:

Harry - I ran into this guy in Cozemel. I gave him your address and directions and if he left when I told him to he should get to your place just in time for the super bowl.

Andy - don't worry - we didn't waste too much time sightseeing before we found the real worthwhile visits:

I only regret that I didn't get a picture of this beautiful cuban sandwhich before my wife got to it!

Im glad this holiday was a great one for both you and your wife.
That ship looks very impressive indeed :wow dunno that a cruise is something I would do, cause I'm prone to motion sickness too when it comes to Ships and small Planes.

I see you didn't go hungry at all rolleyes1.gif the Omlette Chef looks like he's injured his hand.

Thanks for sharing your second honeymoon with us, the images look great.

Thanks Skippy! You might think twice about a cruise though. Daphne and I are both very prone to motion sickness (I can't be a passenger in a car, period). If you pick a cruise with lots of ports of call (4) and few days at sea (2), take a handful of "sea-calm" with you for the rough moments (there were only 3-4 "rough spells" of about 2 hours each on our whole week-long trip). YMMV, but as I say, we're a sickly pair and we did just fine!
