new domain name and old domain name point to site?

I just shortened my domain name from www.dianeschaferphotography.com to www.dianeschafer.com. I was able to change the new name to point to my smugmug account with no problems, however, I still want my old 'longer' name to also point to my webpage because so many of my clients and promo material still have the original website name.
CAN I DO THIS ??? and HOW?
I use Go Daddy.. and i tried forwarded both domain names to dianes.smugmug.com and that didn't seem to work. So I forwarded my dianeschaferphotography.com to www.dianeschafer.com and that didn't work. I'm sure it is an easy fix if it can be done.

THANKS in advance. Diane

2nd question:
I know I saw this somewhere here in the help forums... how do I get my address to work without the 'www' if someone types in my address without the 'www'??

thanks again, Diane

DO NOT use forwarding of any kind. ONLY CNAME and only one cname at a time. You might be able to forward the old domain to the new domain on godaddy, but we can't be sure that will work, nor can we guarantee passwords, cart cookies, etc... so try it and let us know.
