Just upgraded to PS cs

What is a new feature that is a must to try out?

So far it looks the same to me as 7 (but i have only had it running for 5 mins

)

Anyone?

Shadow/highlight & File Browser. Picture package is also amazing. I use it to build custom layouts to make my business cards.

This was such a broad upgrade, I'm sure everyone will have a favorite feature.

The Raw Converter is better integrated. Much more comprehensive 16 bit editing tools. Hisotgram Palette. Automatic gang scan, straighten, file. Panorama builder is now in PS CS. Photo Filters. And there's more!!

Don't you read "What's New" on the Adobe splash screen when PS CS boots up???

The Extract tool isn't listed on that splash screen, but for some reason I thought it was new.

Take a look here at what Adobe highlights as new features.

The big two for me are the improvements to RAW and the file browser.

yes.. I only found the file browser by accident yesterday... doh..I find most of my stuff by accident... I love the extract tool, healing brush, photo filters in the layers adjustments

Hello all,

Yes I saw what Adobe says is new I was just wondering what you all felt was the icing on the cake. That one new feature that you just HAVE to try out.

I have had it for several days now and have not really had to use anything that was not in 7

Just wondering.

My stupid question is.....
....what is Image Ready that's packaged with it?

If PhotoShop CS is a Editor what's the other part for?

You know, I have only had all that stuff on my computer since summer. Love CS, the parts I use. But I would like to know what people use the other thing for, too.

I also have stupid questions on my new Maxtor external hard drive. But they are really stupid............so I guess I am going to stay that way.

Maybe we should have a thread for Dummies. I don't think we could get a moderator, maybe they could rotate.

I didn't even know about the photo package... I have never really used cs until I got my 20D... I use to use it for light editing... And the editing I did was all filter driven.

In a nutshell ImageReady is for creating images for use on the web. If you just want to take a Photoshop image, create a JPEG and upload it to the web, you can do everything you need from inside Photoshop. ImageReady is more for website development. One of it's main features is letting you take a large image and split it up into smaller pieces. With that done each piece can be saved off as it's own file. As an example, take a look at the "Digital Grin" banner at the top of this page. You could design the entire banner as one Photoshop image. The problem you would run into is picking a format to save the banner in. If you use GIF, the text will look good, but the pictures will suffer. If you use JPEG, the pictures look good, but the text might not. With ImageReady you could split the image into three pieces and save each piece in any format you want. In fact the banner is made of three pieces!
