The S.S. Lane Victory is a Merchant Marine ship built in Los Angeles in 1945. It served in WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War. It’s currently docked in San Pedro, CA. This ship is fully operational and goes on regular cruises. Many movies and TV shows have shot here.

6. Outdoor Privy. The plaque states that during the Korean War, they picked up many Koreans fleeing the war and everyone including the crew used the outdoor bathroom. Now it looks over the huge cranes at the San Pedro port.

Very nice shots. I looked at your gallery. You managed to capture the enormity of this ship, not an easy thing to do. Being underway, and using that outdoor toilet, they were brave souls :D

Hey thanks for looking. I guess with so many refugees aboard, they had no choice but to go outside.

Ships engine controls always look impressive, and your B&W's to me have a better impact than the colour shot .... nice work Tee thumb.gif .. Skippy

Hey thanks. That engine is actually in a cargo hold and wired to an electric motor to run so that film crews can shoot it with lots of space to set things up. Used in a Steve MaQueen movie, Sand Pebbles.
