This lady was telling me that she pretended 1000 Rp (0,25 USD) for modeling in this photo. She was chewing sugar cane.
New market, Wamena (Papua Barat, Indonesia).
I really would be interested in your opinions, comments, critiques...
Thanks, Carlo

    its a gorgeous image,
Im not really one to comment on others but what if the background wasnt as "rich" / "vivid" / "saturated" - im not sure of the appropriate word to use. The rich colors of the background slightly distract my eyes from the subject...
But.. listen ! Its a beautiful image and i wouldnt change a thing!

New (for me) B.W. conversion technique: double Hue/Saturation layers plus a color balance layer. Just saw it on a Dave Cross tutorial on NAPP!

The black and white conversion is excellent. Do you have a link for that tut?

Thank you Windoze, thank you firedancin4life for stopping and commenting!
    image.
Firedancing4life: I'm afraid you shoiuld subscribe to NAPP. Dave Cross's tutorial its rather long and very useful if you want a really dramatic B.W. image He starts with a rough B.W conversion adding a Gradient map layer, and then adds a color balance layer for fine tuning. Then he goes on for his dramatic effect. I've converted the shot with the doble Hue/Saturation layers and then I've added a Color balance layer for fine tuning. That's it!

Very nice portrait. I like the B/W version the best.

    B&w!
    Carlo,

the B&W shot definitely speaks more to me, I prefer it. Great shot, by the way. Shows a lot of character, as your pictures always do.

The B&W conversion is great, and I think its contrasts and overall "description of light" are better.

The Dave Cross tutorial is probably quite complex (I haven't seen it), but I've found methods 4 (which uses 2-3 hue/saturation layers) and 5 from the link above usually do the trick for me:

Thanks so much for sharing yet another great photo with us!
    Take care!

Mostly I like the color version better, but that big blue patch in the background is a major distraction. If it was my shot, I might try selectively desaturating just that blue patch down to a navy or midnight blue.
