Coupon Codes for Customers?

Hi all! I'm new around here (first post). I've had a standard smugmug account for awhile, and I've been looking into a separate pro account to start selling some of my family and child portraits. I had a trial pro account, but it has expired and I'm not quite ready to drop the $$ just yet.

What I'm wondering is this - With a pro account is it possible to setup any sort of coupon that would allow a customer a certain number of prints or downloads for free, or even just a set amount of "credit"? I'm looking to include a few free prints or maybe digi downloads with each of my sessions, but I haven't been able to figure out how to set it up.

Am I missing something simple? Any ideas?

Thanks!
Katie

Hi wave.gif and welcome. We don't have them yet, we'd love to have them, and it's on our list of things to-do :D

Thanks! I'm glad I wasn't just being a dummy and mising something somewhere - and I'm also glad it's on the "things to do" list! I'd love to see it as an option. I'm sure I'll end up with my pro account either way (as soon as I can afford it!) and I'll definitely be watching for that feature!!!

There's usually some way to get it done

    Hi Kate,

I saw your original post and have some suggestions about how you can get it done, i.e. work around.

I had the same need to allow certain people to order photos without paying the much higher price that I am asking on my business page. You can do this with one Pro account. Although there are a few issues that you will need to work around, I have done it and you can use my site as a model.

In the upper left hand corner, I created two hyperlinks for "special" people. Friends and Family is a pretty broad group of people that has nothing to do with the Friends and Family feature of Smugmug. OWC Collection is a very restricted group of family members that can access my grandfathers collection of photographs. Both link to a specific category: Friends and Family, and OWC. All of the galleries in those categories are password protected and I only give the password to people that I want.

So, I essentially have three websites: my business page, my friends and family page and my OWC page. You see that the menus and such are somewhat different.

Now, with a Pro account you can create a template of prices. I have different default price templates set up for each home page. So, every photo that I upload to one of the three categories that correspond to the three webpages automatically gets a default set of prices attached to it.

Problems? Yea but not insurmountable. You have to actually upload unique copies of each photo to a gallery in each category that you want the photo to appear. If you use the FREE Star Explorer it is pretty easy.

Check out my site and see if that works for you.
