Hi - Made an attempt yesterday to capture some butterflies with my Nikkor 18-200VR lens. Here is a selection... most were taken at 200mm. Camera settings: mainly aperture priority f/10 and ISO 400. Photos have been cropped.
Location: Tropical Butterfly Garden at Leidschendam, The Netherlands.

Would appreciate your comments.

Cheers - Herman

Lovely series but as Skippy pointed out you seem to have missed sharp focus on the butterfly in a few shots- were these MF or AF ?

Hi Brian - All shots were taken in AF mode. I do agree with you that not all are as sharp as I would have liked them to be but I do think that applying jpeg compression also slightly degrades the final result.ne_nau.gif
Skippy, thanks for commenting as well.
    Guess practice... makes perfect!

funny, I have a macro lens specifically to shoot butterflies. What I have learned from your shots is that I prefer the photos where the green is part of the design, the butterfly is not actually so close. Those are the most pleasing shots to me.

    Very nice in general.
