I would turn everything off. Take out the firewire cable. Plug in a USB2 cable. Turn on and re-install.

Give it a try and then come back to your firewire connection when you have time to play about re-instaling it later.

I don't have a mac but thats what I'd try first on my pc.

Before we do anything else, let's make sure that your system is healthy. It could be that you've got a corrupt preference file, or that your drive is having problems, etc.

    1) How much free space do you have on your drive?

    2) Go to this page: http://applejack.sourceforge.net/ and download AppleJack. Then install it. Once installed you need to do the following: restart, and immediately after the chime sounds, hold down the command-s key combination (the same combo for saving a document), until you see white text on a black screen. Once the computer settles down, type "applejack auto restart", all lower case. Then walk away and have a coffee. When your computer is restarted, try adding the printer again.

    3) Never forget the little things that you've changed. Maybe you changed a security preference in System Preferences.

EDIT: well, I guess nevermind? Glad you got it worked out. Applejack never hurts, though. :D

Hi, I had some issue with my printer as well but recently a freind of mine helped me by referring me to a great tech support site with live free support chat. I am sure you will find an answer there.

here is the page for Epson R1800 Support

    Good luck
