According to Wikipedia US "At present, the United States does not participate in IBAN. Any U.S. participation in IBAN would likely be tied to the standards of the U.S...."

If if wanted to make a money transfer to the States, what do you suggest I use ? :dunno

Money order ?:dunno

The reason for the transfer would constitute how I would transfer money......As I have been transfering money to the Czech Republic over the last 3 years, I only use WESTERN UNION...it much more safe than Money gram.....if I could use PAYPAL for my transfers I would as it is also a safe way to move money......

Just my thoughts on money transfer.

    need advice/help!
Anyone have experience/info wiring $ over the net? Paypal is out of the question and my schedule is preventing me from making it to the bank/post office to pull the usual MO gig.

Anyone care to lend some knowledge before this lens I'm looking to buy slips away?

    Thanks folks!

Do you have someone who can do the MO aspect for you? It could be one trip to the USPS for a MO and to mail a letter with the MO. Here's more info for you re: the USPS MOs: http://www.usps.com/money/sendingmoney/moneyorders/welcome.htm

And you were a bit vague... is this domestic? Is the approx value <$1000? Try to make the time to hit a USPS office? The seller will not take a personal check from you?

Honestly if it's not a PP (or USPS MO domestically) payment, I really don't need it. And if I have an agreement with someone, I'll try to make it happen to satisfy both parties. And hope the seller understands if I get into a pickle.

    Good luck...

Thanks Seymore. I realize I sounded a little scattered there. This is a domestic deal over 1k. I had a huge hassel with the post office today. My debit card wouldnt go through (denied at 2 post offices), but when I called my bank they said I had the funds available, was under my limit for the day, and no denial had been posted to their system that is supposedly working in real time. In short, th PO said my bank was the problem and the bank said it was on the PO.<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/headscratch.gif" border="0" alt="" >

So I was looking at alternatives but I've successfully been able to recruit my lady to help me solve the problem...

Ahhhhhhh... It's nice to have alternatives like you described. I have my own backup. Don't forget this when she asks for your assistance sometime in the near future. thumb.gif

I've never had the issue either. I've purchased several MOs in the past all with the same card. I can't understand whats going on and its kinda frustrating have the bank and PO point fingers at each other.rolleyes1.gif

Oh, I'm in even deeper now that she's involved in more that just permitting me to buy the lens:D (not that I mindthumb.gif...she's a pretty cool lady)

    Thanks again,
