    fortunately I'm safe, but the park will be off limits to hikers and visitors for some time to come. This tragedy affects most Angelinos on a personal level.

    Oh good. I have fond memories of seeing Jupiter and several of it's moons through that telescope - I don't think there are enough big scopes available for public viewing in this country. It would have been a shame to lose that one.
