Q: Color management?

Ok, so after wondering why do the uniforms look purple in PS CS while they look carolina blue elsewhere (talking about uniforms like the blue ones in this picture
http://Davidson.smugmug.com/gallery/379424/1/15123432), and why do people who successfully calibrated their monitor say they look carolina blue but the images are a bit dark, I started messing around. I bought an eye one display 2, and while it made an icc profile, it didn't do anything to my monitor, so my laptop monitor goes unprofiled. If I go into PS CS and check off proof colors, and set proof colors set up to choose monitor rgb, the colors appear in PS CS as how people with properly profiled monitors say they appear (a carolina blue and a bit underexposed). So, now for my questions
1 - Am I suppose to have to select proof colors and then monitor rgb to get proper colors to display in PS CS?
2 - Is there a way to set up PS CS so that when I start it, it defaults to proof colors being checked?
3 - Is there a way I can get this icc profile that my eye one display 2 created to apply not just in PS CS world, but for my monitor no matter what program I'm using?

Hmm, that image didn't embed...hold on, I'll set up a gallery I can give people access to. Ok, now an image link that will work

Thanks,
Richard

Hmmm I have always wondered the same... As I click on the image i see blue but not dark.. more on a middle level or towards a babby but not that light. I am using a veiwsonic monitor. the ultrabrite a91f+... I was going to buy those devices to calibrate it... but this monitor shows nice colors and was not sure if those devices worked.

The device works for every monitor I've used it on except for mine...which is great.

Laughing.gif!1 it figures! so do you use it just 1 time? How often do you have to re-calibrate it? My monitor has 3 settings so does that mean I have cal. it for each setting? Or does it just do it 1 time.

They say to re-calibrate every 1-3 weeks, but people (as opposed to instruction manuals) have said every other month or so. AFAIK you only do it one time per sitting, though none of the monitors I did it on had multiple modes. The thing I don't get is the icc profile works, it just won't affect anything other than the PS CS proof colors.
