Anyone know how to buy a new tripod collar?

My friend was using my 70-200 f/2.8 IS and apparently she broke the knob on the tripod collar. Where can I buy a new one. Canon doesnt list one and BH only has the collar for the f/4 version...

:cry

I was in a ruxh and didn't explain. The tropod ring for that lens is apparently available from Canon as a repair/replacement item. It should be available through Canon dealers. You can use the link above to contact Canon, where they will probably refer you to a dealer near you.

There are some hardware stores online where you can likely get a "bolt" with the proper thread, length and probably something you can turn with your hand for $1.00.
Ghetto I know but how often do you rotate the collar? Me not so much.
Good luck and I am curious to know what you find out

I sent it in to Canon yesterday. It may be under warranty. If not there is access hatches for the screw so Im assuming you can remove the screw and replace the whole thing. It will arrive there on Monday so I can add some more here when I know. deal.gif

Well Canon sent it back to me and said its not a replaceable part which makes me mad. There isnt any reason they shouldnt be able to change the screw. Now I gotta make my friend shell out $130 for another one. rolleyes1.gif
