[file photographs may or may not be simulated in the following story]

I have maybe 30 of these in the flat ripening at the moment. The aroma is like a drug. They gas off into the newspaper i have them wrapped in (helps ripen) and the hotter the day gets...the thicker the layers of smell hang in the air. Its so rich & smooth i wish i could have it all year round.

I think you would be lucky to find a house in this city that hasnt got a huge tree in the backyard covered in them. On behalf of Dgrin...i will eat maybe 20 today that are ripe & then go for a ride to get more from a friends tree.

By the time i get this new camera we may well be looking at the 2009 mango season.

It really isnt anything one should photograph....believe me. But it sure as hell is a good way to spend a summers afternoon.

    'gus,

With all those mangos, you've gotta try at least one with sweet sticky rice.

If I remember correctly, you cook Jasmine sweet rice then combine it with
sweetened & condensed milk and cook it again.

    Yummy Thai dessert.

Kinda. Maybe like the East Indian version but reduced. There
is no liquid to speak of in the rice--just a nice little mound of
    it--ice cream scoop worth.

But I warn you. It's so filling it's like having a second dinner iloveyou.gif
