High Flying Horses and High Flying Cowboys (LARGE POST)

Those who know me also know that I usually photograph wildlife and birds. For a change of pace, I attended a local rodeo yesterday with my two good friends, Bob and Mao. I could easily write a short novel about our afternoon there but will resist doing so. I will simply post a selection of images from the day and hope you enjoy them.

    Great shots...enjoyed the subject and the composition of the action. Enjoyable.

    Wow, Great images! Great exposure and loaded with action. I have never been to a live rodeo, but am ready to go right now!

    I don't know a thing about rodeos, but this is a really wonderful series of images! Sharp, colorful, great use of depth of field, expressive faces, great timing, ...well heck, I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea! Great job!!! thumb.gifthumb.gif

    Thanks very much. I really appreciate the kind words. I think when you're having fun, it's a lot easier to obtain good results.

    Thanks a lot, Jeff. Shot #7 is one of my favourites of the day. That little girl in shot #13 was the only one to complete the ride in mutton busting over two days. All the other kids were dumped within 10 feet of the gate. She held on for the ride all the way to the other end of the ring. She was the hit of the rodeo.

    Great action shots!!! And magnificant character shots of people......bet a few would look great in b&w or sepia.....like old time cowboys/girls. rolleyes1.gif

    Seriously great set you caught there thumb.gif I was 15 before i knew there was another way of getting off a horse other than over its head.
