    Thanks for the kind words, folks. I was so sick of getting just a big white featureless circle on a black background. Last night (in the course of PUI Friday over at advrider), Misery Goat suggested that I should use a large aperture and very fast shutter speed. It finally clicked. This was done with my 10D and 70-200/4L lens in full manual on a tripod out on my back deck.


    ExposureTime - 1/3200 seconds
    ISOSpeedRatings - 800
    ApertureValue - F 4.50
    ExposureBiasValue - 0.0000
    MaxApertureValue - F 4.00
    MeteringMode - 6 (partial)
    FocalLength - 200 mm

    I also did one at ISO100...

    ExposureTime - 1/1000 seconds
    FNumber - 4.0000
    ISOSpeedRatings - 100
    MeteringMode - 5 (multi-segment)
    FocalLength - 200 mm

    Its beautiful.. I'm interested in the difference between the two ISO speeds. Being a noob I have'nt paid much attention to iso... Oh I change it around a lot to see what happens but I tend to use a slow speed.. I know that fast iso is whats need for moving objects, I would have used a slower speed for the moon, but then again, I spose it is moving is'nt it. Can you talk a bout that a little?

    It's kinda hazy right now, so the image isn't the clearest, but because the moon is low in the sky, it's got a very peach/orange cast. Looks a lot like this:

    There's a small circle at the south pole with diagonal lines The moon looks like a watermelon.
