Practice at Practice

Practicing with the sigma 300/2.8 with 1.4 TC.
It's very frustrating for me to shoot sports at 420mm with no zoom.
1st scrimmage is tommorrow night so I went to practice this morning to practice myself.
btw, it's gonna be 102F here today and high schools must be off the field by 11am...it was so humid this morning my evf was foggy

That's funny that you are in S. Carolina and I could have sworn you were here in San Diego at my old high school because those were are school colors and are mascot was a Patriot.

Yea I felt the same way about the 400 Nikon I rented. It took me almost the whole time to get used to the restriction of being "stuck" at a focal length. Nice shots by the way. Hows the speed of focus with that Sigma? Colors look good, any PP or straight out of the camera?

the sigma is amazingly fast and accurate.
For games I will go back to the 70-200 though because I like to be near the action. The main reason i shot fb is to watch from the sidelines.

The shots look great colors, action and exposure. I am renting the Nikon 300 F4 & 1.7 TC for my next event and hope for some very crisp shots like these.

watch the heat and humidity!! I actually got a mild heat rash from 95°F heat and outrageous humidity last weekend.

Practice makes Perfect
Looks good so far, great action and portrait shots. #'s 2 and 5 are particularly good. The long primes sure have their advantages, which (mostly) outweigh the zoom restriction...but I sure know how you feel. Having a second body with the 70-200 is how I usually do it.
