Sun on Mount McKinley (or Denali)

Later that day.....

24 hours of sunlight when we were there......Nice!

Great shots, I love the pano. I also really like the helicopter landing image. Something about the red of the heli against all the white and gray.

    Very nice!

Very nice series. It's going to be 100 degrees F. in Madrid today, and all that ice and snow sure does look appealing.

    Cheers,

    The boat:

Denali National Park. Its the size of Vermont with only one road and no private cars. There is a series of busses that ferry people around.

    McKinley is one big mountain!

The classic glacier caving into the sea:

    Same glacier:

    Neat graffiti in Skagway:

Wonderful photos. The scenery must be breathtaking in person. The cruise ship looks like it has a couple jet engines mounted on top.

There are aren't many places that are more beautiful than Alaska. And to
have had a cloudless day to view Denali must have been nice too.

    I miss AK.

Love your glacier shots! So glad you found Alaska to be so beautiful. I think it's one of the best places on earth. I claim it as a second home as all of my husband's immediate family lives there as well as my brother. I really enjoyed seeing your pics! Thanks for sharing!

Wow. Beautiful shots to support your adventure.
Nice job of telling your story about your Alaskan journey. My wife and I spent almost two weeks on a Holland America Lines tour of the state and share your thoughts about the "indescribable" nature of the scenery. Thanks for posting.

We did the Princess Island Cruise. I though the boat and staff was outstanding.

The excursions were good, except you have to remember they are group oriented and can be a little too prepackaged for my taste. Also, they have to run them to the lowest physical activity level, so nothing is very hard.

I loved the helicopter tour (although expensive) and the Zip line. In the zip line, they take you up 160ft into the air and run you between trees.

If you are at all capable, I found the adventure type tours much better than the look at dogs type. There wasnt that much adventure, but at least you walked around. Kayacking was also extremely cool.

Take a throw away or compact P&S for these. There is really no way to get a dslr up there if you are going to participate as well.

Good luck - tell us how it turns out.
