The following is a hiking trip I took a couple weeks ago. I started my hike at Logan pass at 6:30 am, grabbed my gear and started the 7.5 mile hike to Granite Park Chalet on the Highline trail.

Having met some curios animals.

At about the 6.5 mile mark I decided on taking the Grinnell Glacier overlook trail. What a sight!

This is Grinnell glacier and Upper Grinnell lake with Icebergs on July 30th.

Upper and Lower Grinnell lakes.

And McDonald lake from the overlook.
Then finally the chalet.

Mt Gould and the Garden wall from the chalet.

I stayed the night at the chalet which is only accessible by trail. There are very few amenities at the chalet, lighting is only available in the main room. The lights and stove are propane powered and you do your own cooking with food that you pack in or reserve in advance. After dinner we were treated by a beautiful sunset and music played on guitar and violin by the hosts.

The following morning after breakfast I hiked over Swiftcurrent pass and down to Many Glacier. The first part of the trail down is very narrow, steep and winding. The trail is 8 miles to Many Glacier from the chalet.

Bullhead and Redrock lakes on the way out to Many Glacier.

Many Glacier hotel and Swiftcurrent lake.

When I arrived at the Many Glacier hotel I waited for the shutle to take me back to Logan pass. Not a bad place to spend time while waitng.

If I have my history correct, the Chalet was built during the railroad boom and often used to attract visitors to the parks (and railroad).

    Pretty cool place for sure.
