Wow! That sounds like a great deal. An online friend was just saying how great the 70-200 L is, so I was checking prices on B&H out of curiosity. You're practically giving it away and I'd love to have it. Unfortunately, we're entering the "month of family birthdays" at our house and mine's not one of them. :cry Good luck with the sell, I'm sure it won't last long at that price!

It is the F/4 non IS
with the tripod ring (which is not included when bought new, and is hard to find).

I will split up the package if some one buys the lens.

    $510 for the lens
    $120 for the ring

    Thanks,

    Jon

Oh, sorry, I didn't realize there was an IS and non IS version. (I hadn't scrolled down low enough on B&H to see the non IS one.) Still a good price and hope you get a buyer soon. :)

Charles, John's last post says it's the non IS version (he stuck that in the title section of the post)

OK, I know we're not supposed to talk price, and this does include the tripod ring, but looking at the prices around the web, Adorama has it new for less than they have it for used... Did the list price drop or something..? The Adorama ones have the same mfg part #.
This looks like a good first L lens, but I'm getting very confused by the prices.

I just looked at B&H, which is the site I usually use to set prices. They seam to be consistant. The lens sells for $559 new. The tripod ring lists for $144 new.

Mine breaks down to $510 for the lens and $120 for the ring. I am not sure of the difference between my ring, and the newer A2 ring.

As usual listed prices are always up for negotiation.

And you are right, this is an excellent first "L" lens. Light, fast focus and tack sharp. One you can carry around all day. My needs require a 2.8 at this point, so that is the reason for the sale. I have heard that the F4 is actually sharper than the 2.8. I hope not, because I will miss that in the F4 if that is true.
