Canon Fall Rebate question

I have a question about the Fall Rebates that Canon usually offers. They will probably be in mid-october, I know that, but I remember or think I remember (I may be making this up completely!) reading somewhere that if you bought the products, then within a certain timeframe they went on sale, that Canon would give you the difference? Is this true? because I really wouldn't mind buying the 5D now and taking my chances of the rebate coming out before the timeframe's end...does anyone know about that?

Well, you could always do the LLC thing and then just write it off on your
    taxes...

Right but it's better to have money in your pocket than let uncle same have it. You'd have to write it off over the 5 years (i'm no accountant but i think it's a depreciated asset?).

yeah - I was talking about the rebates - will most likely start on the 15th.

I'm thinking that the benefits of buying new will outweigh the possible what - $2-$300 you would save? just my thoughts.

Can you post a link to the Canadian rebates?

A quick Google turned up this: http://www.adidap.com/2007/09/29/canon-double-fall-rebates-in-canada/

The only body getting rebates in Canada is the 5D. Many lenses on there and a few accessories. I'm guessing we'll get the same treatment here in the US.
