Where are the Canon Rebates?

Conventional wisdon thought that the Canon rebates would start today. I have checked the Canon site, along with the usual early leak sites such as Amazon and B&H and see no notice of the sale.

Am I missing it anywhere? Does anyone wish to further speculate?

I have seen the Canadian ones, but they are not applicable in USA.

Is there a chance that due to the currency exchange rate drops they will not hold one this year?

Thanks,

Z

yeah, they're pretty crappy this year....quite a disappointment. I just bought $5000 worth of stuff yesterday, and not ONE thing that I bought is on that list...ridiculous.

I know, imagine that, you paid list price for high-quality new goods!

I, for one, say good for Canon. Rebates, cashback, all that stuff - marketing gimmicks that only dilute the brand. If you want a strong, premier product, you don't destroy it's image by having midnight sales. When's the last time you saw BMW or Mercedes giving customer cash or rebates?

    I JUST PURCHASED A 17-55mm f/2.8 IS Lens
I purchased this lens from my favorite supplier, 17th Street Photo (17photo.com) from whom I have previously purchased 3 top line (12-24mm Tokina, and both the 70-200mm f/4L non-IS and IS model) lenses and a 350D. They had an "Instant Rebate" of $70.00 on the 17-55mm f/2.8 IS lens, making the final price $929.00.
