I take all my pictures in RAW and use lightroom , cs3 but how do i...

Hey all,

I have a sony A100k and I have it set up to take all my pictures in raw. That part is fine, however I like to upload all of my shots to smug, but it doesnt support raw, so i have to open each picture one by one and convert it to jpeg, is there a better way of doing this because taking 200 shots+ takes for ever!

I tried to download some raw to jpeg converters, but no luck.....

    Howdy-

    The best way I have found to do this is to use Lightroom. On both the Win and Mac versions, one can select multiple photos up to and including the entire gallery or catalog. With all of them selected select "Export" it will than prompt you for where to save the photos and how to name them.

    It is possible to have Lightroom upon finishing the export queue up the photos for uploading. Directions for that are located here: Windows or Mac

    If you are processing each and every image, then you will also need to save each and every image individually.

    If you are using a Windows based machine, and if you want to automate much of the process (batch), I use three applications and then choose between the results for final choices.

    1) Picasa is a great freeware to sort images, but it also supports RAW images and allows basic cropping and WB and you can export the images to JPG format in a batch process.

    2) i2e is software designed to work via "rules" and settings to process entire directories into JPG and other formats. I have standard settings and just run all images to an output directory and comapare results. It is commercial software but it is truly nice stuff (and you can get a DGrin discount.)

    3) Raw Shooter Essentials (RSE) used to be available and is batchable. It is best to tag files as groups for processing as groups of similar images. It may not work with the most recent cameras, because it's no longer in production and has not been updated.
