THese aref rom the three day airshow I was working out at Holloman Air Force Base New Mexico. I could get into the details a bit more, but I'm reallly tired and going to hit the hey soon.. Figured I'd share..

BUT.. .

I'm supprised I got the shots that I did. I REALLLLLLY need that Nikon D80.. My camera can't keep up w/ Airshow photoging.. It zooms VERY SLOW, it's focus SUCKS and the darn preview sux too, I can't change it!!! I lost SOOOOOOO Many good shots waiting for this darn paperweight to keep up!!! That's it... It's going in the pool, or I'm setting it on fire when I get my new one! :bash It almost got thrown on the pavement this afternoon when I lost a GOOD hertiage flight shot waiting for the darn camera to wake up again!!! :bash

EDIT: Some shots were rather distorted due to resizing. The pics are a bit clearer in full size.

    Wow Bayer_Z28 what a series !! clap.gif

This one has me totally intrigued,
what is it? a plane or a chopper or a combination, and how does it fly??
It doesn't look like it should fly almost an unconventional shape for being aerodynamic??? how does it defy gravity headscratch.gif

Gosh it looks cool ... excellent series ... well done! ... Skippy :D

Nice shots, Bayer! We're past air show season here in the Northeast, so it's good to see your shots. Yes, you are right - to shoot some of the aerial displays, you need a camera that can keep up with you.

BTW, how are things at Holloman these days? I spent some time out there some 25 years ago as an AFROTC cadet, tagging along with an officer from the old 479th TFTW - they flew the AT-38 for the lead in fighter training program.

Skippy, that's the V-22 Osprey - it's a "tilt-rotor" aircraft, the engine pods (with rotors) tilt on the end of the wings. They are vertical to allow it to take off and land like a helicopter, then tilt to a horizontal position to act like a conventional aircraft. It allows the V-22 to get in and out of tight spots, and have a higher cruise speed then a conventional helicopter.

    Cool shots, Bayer thumb.gif

I'm not sure about the angle on the B1, maybe the nose pointing up, like the F4? Man, I love the look of the B1 though iloveyou.gif

    love this one:

I believe it also allows the aircraft to crash more often than others :hide

The aircraft is the Boeing Osprey. The engines tilt forward for flight once the aircraft is airborne. The engines tilt vertical so the aircraft may lift like a helocopter. one of the bad things about the aircraft, there is no emergency egress built into the aircraft. Only one entrance and exit. Right where the props are located

I really don't have anything nifty to say so I will remain quiet and observe!

As far as the Question on the Osprey, I just happen to have some burst pics of it. Some aren't the greatest, but it'll give you an idea of how it works. My camera can take burst shots as fast as the lense speed and the processor, but after the first 5, it slows down CONSIDERABLY!!! :soapbox .. I REALLLY hate my present camera! If I can afford it on the 15th, I may get it.. I'll have to do some bill planning, tho..
