Rodeo Anyone???

This was taken at the rodeo in Cody, Wyoming. Available light using a Canon 10D with a 100-400m lens at 400mm. Handheld and shot at ISO 1600. Needless to say, I had to despeckle the shot.

Oh wow...why didn't someone tell him he was supposed to stay ON the horse, lol. Great capture!!!! Of course, I love anything that is remotely horse related...but this really is great timing!

Natalie, wish I could take credit for the timing, but I have to give that to Canon. I was shooting in multi-shot mode and squeezed off about 4 shots and then pick the one which gave me the action I wanted.

...but at least I did my job by keeping the action in frame.

How's life in Myrtle Beach these days. I lived there from 1963 until 1967. It's grown considerably since then.

Oh yes, the beach has and continues to grow by leaps and bounds!

I shoot horse show photography, but have never tried the continuous shooting method. Looks like it worked for you though...I think that is the perfect moment for that shot to have been taken! I'm quite fond of your sn as well...as a former Dixie Stampede rider/entertainer (10years)!! Glad you found the boards...glad I found the boards for that matter!

And don't be so modest about "just keeping the focus point on target". I've found that's one of the hardest things to do with these cameras. Ya done good

Watching a rodeo in Cody can be a lot of fun. I had never been to one before and happened to be for the big Cody Stampede.

This is my favorite shot of the night.

We got a tiny little Rodeo here to. If I get lucky enough to scoop some infield tickets I will definitely post some rodeo shots from The Calgary Stampede.

Ahhh the Cody rodeo, these photos bring memories when I used to work in yellowstone and I would escape to cody to see the cowboys ( I do love boys in blue jeans and cowboy hats.

A Canon D10 was used for the rodeo shot, and I also use a Canon 1Ds.
