I love this lens, but I'm going to put money in shorter 2.8 glass.

I picked this up about 6 months ago. I sent it in for service because the rear housing was loose and caused the focus motor to bind. It was also cleaned while it was out. The paint is peeling off the tripod collar a bit. Aside from that this lens works beautifully.

I've used it maybe 5 times since I got it back from service and it was taking some awesome pictures.

pics of it, and pictures taken with the lens are here

(sorry for the crappy pics of the lens, taken with the wife's cheap point and shoot)

I'm asking $750.

I know it's a little rough around the edges on the outside, but trust me it takes awesome pictures.

I got it this way and I've taken the best care I could with the lens.

also includes 86mm filter that's pictured on the lens. the filter has always been on the lens.

Matt, some important points to answer: when you picked it up 6 months ago, was it new? are you the first owner? how old is the lens, in other words, is it the newer DG version? It could be an older non-DG that was sitting on the shelf for some time...

all makes a big difference in the pricing.

    thanks,
    Erik

I purchased it from someone else who had it for a year or two. he shot wildlife with it.

It looks to me like a non-DG model.
