Can I use a 430EX to remotely trigger another 430EX?

The gentleman at the Ritz camera said I could, but it doesn't seem to work?

If so, can someone please walk me through the process? I have two 430EX's and a 20D.

    no. you need the 580x. the 430 can be a slave, but not a master.

    hmm, guess this is why Ritz camera isn't ranked very high on camera shopper's lists ... thanks for the info!

    A cheaper option is to get an optical slave trigger for less than $20 and mount one of your flashes on it and use the other 430 on the camera to trigger it. Or get 2 of the optical slave triggers for the 2 flashes and use the internal flash to trigger them.

    The more elegant way to trigger these flashes remotely while retaining full control of all the flash capabilities and features is to use the Canon ST-E2 transmitter, but this costs about $220.
