I don't think $350 is a bad days work even of you end up with $200 profit for an hours worth of work. The last time I checked I don't make $200/hr in my fulltime job.
    but hey that's just me.....
I'll be flying around new England this weekend happier than a pig in.... (you know what)clap.gif

A little late but... just FWIW, in my line of aerial photography a single frame of film 10nm from base shot at low altitude (below 7000ft) costs the customer $750. My charges are based on the target location's distance from base, plus a per-exposure charge, and a few extras. Congested airspace "areas" can add 5-15% to the final cost of the project... my goal is to average $1000/flight-hour, last year we averaged about $1600/flight-hour.

It's a different world (and not quite as competitive I'm sure) than the "out the window" type photography though. There are several in the area doing a lot of work on their own (all fixed wing operations), and a couple that hire helicopters on an hourly basis.

    AerialPhoto,
I live in MD and have a couple friends who are pilots and own small planes. I'm not looking at taking aerial photos as a business, but I was wondering if there are any legal issues with me flying with one of them and taking pictures? I'd assume that as long as we're not in restricted airspace or photographing secure locations everything's okay, right?

Again, not looking to sell, just curious.

    Thanks :)

(Also, did you know Colin Shaw? He was a USAirways pilot and owner of Shaw Aerial Photo, the Shaw's are my neighbors.)
