Extreme wideangle?...Wich one?.

Hey folks...Im going to buy a extreme wideangle lens.

But wich one?.

Im willing to spend arround 1050 usd on this lens. So i want a rather good one. And since i live in sweden, the lenses are more expensive. So the lenses i think about will kost about 600-1050 usd in sweden.

The camera is pentax K10...So give me some tips here?.

The lenses ive checked out is the follow.

Pentax SMC-DA 12-24/4 ED AL IF

Pentax SMC-DA 10-17/3,5-4,5 ED IF. Fisheyezoom

Pentax SMC-DA 14/2,8 ED IF ( lookin good so far )

Sigma EX 8/3,5 DG Fisheye ( may be to much fisheye..)

Sigma EX 12-24/4,5-5,6 DG ( looks like a solid and well built lens )

So what is my problem?..Well im not sure about the fisheye..It´s a cool effect but i think a regular extreme wideangle will forfill its purpose better.

Pentax 12-24 or 14?..Well i rather go for a solid lens with better quality then a zoom with the lack of it.

Anyone have some advice?...I would be so glad =)

    Sigma 10-20mm/4-5.6 EX comes to mind. It's better build
    than the current Pentax offerings and delivers very good
    image quality.

    I believe the Pentax 12-24mm/4 is joint development with
    Tokina and also avalilabe under the Tokina name (Tokina 12-24mm/4 AT-X)
    for a smaller price.

    Consider the Sigma 10-20. First of all, it's wide, very wide.
    Second, it may be cheaper than the Pentax models and wider too, except the fisheye lenses like the 10-17 and the other sigma fisheye. If you are interested in wide angle lens, a rectilinear lens is more usuful than a fisheye.

    The Sigma 12-24 if made for full frames and from what I've seen not as sharp as the sigma 10-20. It's also more expensive and does not take filters over the front element. The sigma 10-20 can use regular thickness filters, even polarizers, without vignetting, which is nice.

    I've got the Canon mount version of the 10-20mm Sigma.
    It's a darn good lens. Very little barrel distortion and good sharpness.
    The build quality is top knotch...better than the equivalent Canon lens and feels very tough.


    Also comes with a hood.

    Al also had the 10-17 and sold it, but he kept his Sigma 10-20, AKA wigma.

    does tokina make 12-24 for pentax mount? it they do then i think this lens is worth considering.

    I love my Tokina 12-24mm
    However, I use it on a 1.6x crop Canon (30D) which gives me an equivalent focal length of 19.2mm. It is a great lens. The Tokina is very sharp and is built like a tank. The going price here in the U.S. is right at about $500 USD and is supplied with a great lens hood.

    However, the THK web site states that the Tokina 12-24mm f/4 Lens is supplied with Canon and Nikon mounts only. http://www.thkphoto.com/products/tokina/afl-00.html

    Just FYI, the Sigma 8mm is a true fisheye.

    If I remember correctly the 8mm is a circluar fisheye on full format?!

    They just started to produce a true circluar fisheye for crop cameras (with 1.5x crop):
