Well, here's something a little softer...

A couple of weks ago my wife and I fly to San Diego, rnted a car, visited a German Shepherd Rescue that we had been working with, and rescued a puppy! Then drove back home to Capitola...

When we picked him up he weighed 14lbs (@10 weeks)

He's now 12 weeks and we weighed him this morning and he weighs 20.5lbs

His mother weighs over 100... :barb

Meet Thor.

It's nice having a dog back in the house with our two cats. It's been a little over two years since Jack died so it feels good.

Happy New Year everyone..

Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing rescue!!! He's absolutely adorable. Here and there i do GSD rescue, i see so many poor guys needing homes, it breaks my hart. If i could, i would take them all Laughing.gif.
Mom is big at 100lb, wow. That's just too big for GSD. Make sure to keep him slim and well exercised, as they are very energetic breed and predisposed to hip problems.

Best of luck to you and your little guy!! He's precious! iloveyou.gif

Oh he'll be well looked after, and fit...Jack was very fit. Can't have fat animals...and any animal that comes and lives with us will have a good life as will we...we even refinanced our home to pay for Ginger's vet bills when she foundered.

He got his first serious disciplinary action from Widget today...

She's tolerant, and a big girl at 15lb's, not fat just a big cat (for a girl). Anyways, up until now he's been boystrous but nothing mean, but still he has to be watched to make sure he doesn't get heavy handed. Anyways, she rolled on the floor in front of him and he led down by her (he already knows how to sit, walk quite well on a leash and lie down, not beg for food and other little things - being home as I am he's getting good solid training - next is the socialising stuff...)

...back to Widget, she let him sniff her butt, then he nudged her butt with his nose and it was WHAMMO, she hit him hard, all claws...so hard he fell over!! rolleyes1.gif

This is Widget...there is one more cat as well...Bean!

Nice exposure zip. Im being attacked from all sides in the family about getting a puppy. I have next month to build a new fence around the house. Man i am not looking fwd to the first few weeks of the crying the second you are out of site. Ive just got through it with a neighbours dog & i do quite a bit of shift work so when they went to work at 8am...i am going to bed & the wailing started.

    Thank you.

Well, he only whimpered the first night home and only whimpered on part of the drive up from San Diego, since then it's just been a case of house training and we're pretty much done with that (it only took 5 weeks or getting up at 3am/4am etc etc). By the time their 16 weeks they should be done.

The secret is really crate training......Thor lives, and will live indoors and will only go outside when we take him out. Plus, I have been home aside from the odd assignments for magazines here and there which helps with the training

Oh, let's not forget Mistress Widget, a female version of the Marquis De Sade... rolleyes1.gifShe has whooped him into shape as well..!!

Congrats on the new addition to your family. He is beautiful. Nice shots.

I had a German Shepherd named Thor, and he was 110 lbs and traveled from CA to NJ with me. Never a more loyal friend.

    Good luck!

grin, I think he could fly with them. Great shot! Nice catch lights in his eyes, he looks like a very fierce pup. Love the warm brown color of his fur. A beautiful animal shot in an extremely appealing pose... He will be a great dog I am sure.
