DHTML Flyout Menu Slides under Shizam Slide Show

This is really a big problem that makes my new site navigation unusable in Firefox! I been bumping this for a week under the regular customization forum with no responses. I have investigated the whole z-index issue with WebDev but that doesn't seem to be where is solution lies.
I have a DHTML flyout menu in my right hand column and Shizam slideshows in my Bio. It works almost perfectly in IE7 but not so well in Firefox. In FireFox the flyout menu slides under the slideshow (I am 90% certain that this problem has just appeared in the last week.). Use of Z-indexes does not solve the problem.
This problem is apparently well known and discussed by the experts as a google search will reveal. The example solutions there don't work for me since SM has provided an interface to Flash: I don't really understand enough to jump the gap in the examples. See this discussion thread for starters: http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/printthread.php?t=158317 but note that its dated 2004. In some thread that I can no longer find, it said that the problem was dependent on the ORDER of the parameters in the flash call, I think it said that menu=no and wmode=transparent must be last in the call string parameters.
Other less critical problems:
1. In Firefox my Background is no longer transparent, now gray.
2. In IE7, when the cursor is over the right-hand flyouts AND over the slideshow, the outline around the slideshow shows up on top.

slideshow CSS at bottom of customization section
Flyout CSS in middle of customization just above all the menu stuff

I didn't have this problem a few weeks ago. Do you have any idea why the problem might be unique to me? Suggestions where I might look?
